On Instagram, Amber shared that the Johnstons were celebrating another college graduation this year as she officially graduated from Louisiana State University. The TLC star had earned a Master of Social Work degree, or “MSW,” as she wrote in the caption.

In an accompanying photo, Amber could be seen standing alongside her husband Trent in front of the LSU Tiger Stadium. Amber could be seen all dressed for graduation, complete with a cap and gown.

However, Amber wasn’t finished with higher education just yet. In a later update on social media, she shared an image of herself holding a letter from Walden University, a private for-profit online university based in Minneapolis.

In a caption, Amber wrote, “My education journey continues…,” with “@waldenuniversity” appearing in the corner. Zooming in, the letter appeared to welcome Amber into the school’s P.H.D. program for social work.

Fans Are Wondering What’s Next For The 7 Little Johnstons Star

Taking to social media, many fans shared their thoughts on what Amber plans to do with her new degree. As one fan suggested, she might be interested in eventually working at the school. They wrote, “Thinking she’s looking to get into school administration. It’s the only way you can make $$ while working at a school. Various backgrounds, but most end up with an advanced degree in social work, leadership, etc.”

A few also questioned her lack of experience. However, others also commented that work experience isn’t always necessary to get into a P.H.D. program, saying it’s not unheard of to pursue their P.H.D. immediately after getting their Master’s. One fan wrote, “You don’t need work experience to get a PhD. Many students go from a Master’s degree right into a PhD program.”

In the comments, fans weighed in on the story. Some teased that this was all an alternative to working, while others defended the TLC star, often speaking from their own experiences. A few comments included:

  • “A professional student.”
  • “I see a professor in her future. She’s going to be a professional student until that train runs out and because she can’t do, she’ll teach.”
  • “Don’t worry. Amber isn’t actually going to work, just keep getting degrees to avoid working.”
  • “In social work, yes you just need your master’s and the LCSW for clinical work. Amber only just graduated with her MSW, so she wouldn’t be eligible for the LCSW yet.”
  • “My ex MIL. Same thing. Professional student. Just to live off grants, loans & section 8. Never works a real job. Just keeps furthering education”
  • “It’s a luxury to get your degree online after a bachelor’s. I got my Master’s degree online and it was the best decision I’ve ever made after graduating college. You don’t need to pay for housing and all you need to pay is for books, a laptop if you don’t have one), and tuition. However, at this point Amber needs to take a break and let her own kids get their degree since the TLC money seems like it’s only going to Amber.”
