The TLC couple finally broke their silence about their eldest ‘black sheep’ daughter. 7 Little Johnstons stars Amber and Trent Johnston just sent a direct message to their daughter, Anna Johnston, amid a growing family rift. On Wednesday, May 7, the married TLC couple took to Instagram with a birthday shoutout to their eldest daughter. The post was short and sweet but clearly got its point across.
“🎈Happy Birthday 🎈,” the parents wrote alongside a photo of Anna, who turned 25, smiling while holding a sparkler in each hand.
For those who tuned into Season 15 of 7LJ, the tribute likely raised eyebrows. The end of the latest season showed Anna and her parents barely on speaking terms as she expressed frustration about never being “good enough” in Trent and Amber’s eyes.
Anna Johnston doesn’t protect her family’s reputation anymore. She has been vocal about the injustice that happened to her in the family. The 7 Little Johnstons star wants people to know the real reason behind her rift with all of them. However, Anna has been making so many confessions about her mom lately. In March, Anna posted a TikTok video speaking out about her ongoing clash with her parents. The reality TV celeb reacted to a video about Amber and shared her story.
“Pov – you grow up on reality tv & get treated like the black sheep by loved ones for millions to see,” Anna captioned a clip of herself smiling and twirling in a circle at a department store.
In the caption, she added, “Don’t let the smile fool you guys it’s tough with the episodes for me too.”
Anna said, “Confirm her opinion pushed me away to change my major, between going to the same school and her making it a competition!” She is also proud to run her own business and have a job at an orthopaedic office. Fans couldn’t believe that Amber’s competitive behavior led her daughter to change her major. Does the former accept her mistakes?
Before May 7, Trent and Amber had not publicly addressed the rift with Anna outside the show. Anna’s younger sister, Liz Johnston, however, sent a bold message about the rumored feud ahead of Season 15 in an exclusive interview with Parade.
“Everybody will be getting a lot more insight on the whole ordeal with Anna that has literally been tabloids from the wazoo since this last season has aired,” Liz shared.
“You’re going to see everything—the good, the bad, the ugly,” she added.
For context, tabloids and social media commentary have suggested an estrangement between Anna and the rest of her family based on perceived “favoritism” and other rumored factors. What viewers don’t know is what happened.
“Don’t believe what you read, don’t believe what you see,” Liz warned.
While speaking with Parade, Liz shared that the social media speculation, including “crazy comments and messages” sent to her family, has definitely “affected” them.
“So we just then decided to bring it to light on our show, just for people to see,” Liz said. “Because there might be parents and families out there that are dealing with the same thing with one son, daughter, sibling going through the same thing that these people can relate to for the most part. And that’s why we’re doing it.”
Hopefully, the birthday shoutout from Trent and Amber means some headway has been made to bring the family back together.
