Sister Wives star Kody Brown is back in the spotlight after a striking new look surfaced on social media, quickly setting off a wave of fan reactions and double takes online.
In a new Cameo video shared by a fan, Brown debuted a noticeably different look. He appears to have traded in his signature blonde ringlets for a shorter style and what appears to be his natural gray hair.

The video was posted to the social media site in tribute to a fan who received it as a Mother’s Day gift. A photo of Brown’s former look is used as a profile image. In the clip, the reality television star, who once lived a polygamist lifestyle where he had four wives, began by sharing his thoughts about the day that celebrates mothers. Brown was previously married to Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown. He is legally wed to Robyn Brown.
“Mother’s Day is a very special day. Mothers need to be exonerated because it’s a wonderful job, right, but it’s a tough job,” he began.
He told the fan that her husband requested this video from him because she was a big fan of polygamy shows. Brown responded, “Most polygamy shows are awful. The reason you like our show, it wasn’t a polygamy show, it was a family show, until recently, when I think it became too toxic.”
Brown added, “The whole reason we went public was that the polygamy culture tended to be very culty. It was a place where people would lay down their ability to choose what would happen in their life and give that sovereignty over themselves and their body to another person.”
The six-minute video then veered away from being a Mother’s Day message and a diatribe about the religious beliefs Brown no longer subscribed to. The video clip sparked fan reaction on a Reddit thread titled, “Kody cut off his ringlets.”

“Somehow, I think it’s a worse haircut than the ringlets. If that’s even possible,” wrote one follower. “I don’t think he cut it off. I think it’s just pulled back somehow, not a ponytail, maybe a bun? I think his ego is too big to cut it,” claimed a second Reddit user. A third Sister Wives viewer wrote, “I’m pretty sure that even if he had considered shaving it before, he definitely wouldn’t now because everything in his mind seems to be a competition. The way he thinks, he would probably convince himself that people would assume he was trying to imitate David [Woolley, Christine’s husband], and he would never want to feel like he was looking up to someone or doing something because of them.”
Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The series airs on TLC.
