Kelly Reilly Makes Rare Comment About Her Real Life Husband — Compares Him to Yellowstone’s Rip Wheeler

The highly-anticipated Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch is set to premiere very soon on May 15th. Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) will reprise their roles and return to the screens of fans all over the world, and this new show has been described as “Yellowstone Season 6.”

We’ll get a sense of where it’s all going when it premieres later this week, but in the lead up the first episode, Kelly and Cole, who play a couple on-screen, have been doing a ton of press to promote the series, but of course, it’s not their first rodeo. They’ve been working closely together for over a decade now, and they’ve been a fan-favorite couple for years, but in real life, they’ve both been happily married to their respective spouses for a long time.

Reilly married her husband, financier Kyle Baugher, in 2012, and during a recent interview, she was asked if he had any Rip in him, or if they shared any qualities. She quickly responded that “he’s a man” like Rip, implying that he’s got that super manly man feel to him that so many ladies love about Rip:

“Oh, yeah. I mean, he’s a man. He’s a dude. He’s my man. He’s an American man, he’s quiet, you know, but there’s definitely a crossover.”

Baugher is American, and she actually met him Texas, where they filmed “Dutton Ranch.” She explained that she attended a wedding as a plus-one, and she didn’t know anyone, but it was actually Kyle’s brothers wedding, and he was the best man. They seem to keep their relationship pretty private, but obviously they fell in love after meeting at the wedding, and funny enough went on their honeymoon to a ranch in Montana.

This was well before Yellowstone was even a thought, so the parallels are pretty wild considering where the show took her years later:

“I met him at his brother’s wedding. I was a plus one, I didn’t know anybody, I basically gatecrashed a wedding and fell in love with the best man. Who I thought was a Texan… from Long Island. All respect to Long Island, but yeah, he wasn’t my fancy of cowboy. And this is all pre-‘Yellowstone’ by a long time.

We went to Montana, we were literally at a ranch, I wanted to go riding in Montana… this is like 202, and I remember saying to Kyle, ‘God, wouldn’t it be amazing to come to work in a place like this?’ I was working at the time in a backlot in Brooklyn, and it’s not the same. I said, ‘Would it be great to go to work in such beautiful nature?’ So anyway, weirdly manifested that… its quite mad.”

It’s certainly been a full-circle ride for Reilly, and when Hauser was asked the same question in terms of whether his own wife is anything like Beth, he said there’s “nothing” at all, and I think that was a great answer…

He also co-signed on everything Kelly said about her husband, agreeing:

“Kyle’s the man.”

It’s so funny to watch Reilly do these interviews, because she’s so different from the character she plays on-screen, and she always comes across like such a sweet woman who is nothing like Beth in so many ways. I’m sure all the women reading this are even more jealous knowing that not only does she get to be with Rip the character, but she has a real life Rip at home…
