‘Dutton Ranch’ Blindsides Fans With Massive Milestone

“Yellowstone” spinoff “Dutton Ranch” is burning up the ratings for Paramount+.

The new Yellowstone sequel TV series has made history for Paramount in just seven days. Dutton Ranch premiered on May 15 and has shattered Paramount+ viewership records with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser in key roles.

What Paramount+ record did Dutton Ranch break?

The premiere of Dutton Ranch, a spinoff that follows Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) as they leave Montana for a new life in Texas, set a ratings record for a Paramount+ original series premiere. Based on the streamer’s internal data, the May 15 premiere racked up 12.9 million views (total minutes watched divided by run time) worldwide in its first seven days.

The 12.9 million global views for its first seven days puts Dutton Ranch in range of another very successful series from the Taylor Sheridan empire, Landman. The latter’s second season premiere racked up 9.2 million views worldwide over just its first three days and went on to be one of the biggest shows of the 2025-26 season. Dutton Ranch also surpassed the March debut of The Madison.

In the United States, Dutton Ranch is also on track to be the top original series in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the week of May 11-17. Preliminary figures from the ratings provider have the show averaging about 7.25 million viewers on Paramount+ over its first three days; final tallies for that week (measured in total viewing time) will be released in mid-June.

Dutton Ranch also had an on-air premiere on Paramount Network (Yellowstone’s original home) that drew 2.9 million viewers over three days of viewing. The first episode accounted for 1.9 million of those viewers, the best three-day total for a series debut on cable since Hallmark’s Ride in 2023.

Stellar reviews back the impressive viewership figures. Much like its predecessor, the sequel TV series has attracted solid reactions from both critics and fans. It currently holds a solid 88% Tomatometer score and 83% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Dutton Ranch” continues the story of Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) following the events of the “Yellowstone” series finale. In the series, the couple purchase a ranch in South Texas and try to leave the troubles of Montana behind, only to discover more trouble waiting for them down south.

The cast of Season 1 also includes Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Ed Harris, and Annette Bening.

Chad Feehan created the series and served as executive producer and showrunner on Season 1 but will not be back for Season 2. The show is based on characters created by executive producers Sheridan and John Linson. Dutton Ranch is also executive produced by David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Reilly, Hauser, and Keith Cox. In addition to executive producing, Voros also directed multiple episodes this season. Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham also served as directors this season. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
