The Johnston family from TLC’s 7 Little Johnstons deals with a sad loss at the moment. This weekend, the news arrived on social media that Trent Johnston’s mom, Mary Alice Maddox Johnston, affectionately known as “Nana” to the family, has passed away.
The Sad News
The sad news arrived on Emma Johnston’s Instagram on Saturday, and she shared a tender moment. In her reel, she was painting her grandma’s nails. At the time, it looked like Nana wasn’t well as she lay in what appeared to be a hospital bed, so it seems her passing wasn’t entirely unexpected.
In her caption, Emma Johnston wrote: Our Nana is in heaven with Poppy, watching over all of us. We love you, and I miss you.

7 Little Johnstons fans had met Nana on the TLC show, and she seemed well-loved and very sweet with her grandkids. So, fans put aside their issues with the often dramatic family to send in their condolences. Poppy Also Passed Away
If you watch 7 Little Johnstons, you’ve probably already heard that Trent’s father, “Poppy,” also passed away. His full name was Walter “Pete” Lawrence Johnston, but the family always called him by his nickname. That sad news arrived in March of this year. Folks felt really bad for Trent, who clearly adored his dad. Meanwhile, the kids also seemed very close to him. And now his beloved wife has also left the family. So, many tributes and condolences poured in. Trent and Amber also posted about the loss of Nana on their official account, but not many people were able to comment. That’s because, soon after the arrival of Liz Johnston’s baby, they limited the comments section.
