Sister Wives: Aurora Faces Backlash Over Rifle Photo With Boyfriend Brodie Utley
Before their debut as a couple on Sister Wives, Aurora Brown and her boyfriend, Brodie Utley, were already making headlines online. The two marked their first-ever anniversary in September by sharing a series of photos. One of those photos drew attention for an unexpected reason, as one of them showed Aurora holding a rifle beside Brodie.
Hence, Entertainment journalist Katie Paulson, known for her Instagram page Without a Crystal Ball, reposted the image, igniting a debate in the comments section. “Looks like AR-15 style. There is a silencer as well. Anyone know any details?” she captioned. “Kind of shocked to see this, but I probably shouldn’t be. Kody Brown sells ghost kits and silencers for AR-15.”
Her post quickly drew backlash, with many accusing her of unfairly dragging Kody’s past into Aurora’s life. Brodie, however, stayed calm and responded directly under the post: “Hello ma’am, that gun is mine. It is an AR-15 with a suppressor. 100% legal and registered to me. I use it for hunting and just having fun out at the rifle range.” Fans applauded his composed response, calling it “polite” and “accountable,” especially given the speculative tone of the discussion.
Sister Wives: Kody’s Strict Views On Chastity Come Into Play!
Sister Wives star Kody Brown met his daughter, Aurora’s boyfriend, Brodie, for the first time in the recent episode. However, it didn’t take long for the patriarch to set firm boundaries. During the family gathering, he took Brodie aside for a serious talk about his intentions toward his daughter. Hence, Kody told cameras about the advice he offers to the young men who date his daughter.
He thinks it’s their job to protect her, even from themselves. He stated, “When you’re just dating, you’re kissing another man’s wife until she’s your wife.” The 56-year-old man continued, “If she doesn’t become your wife, you’re kissing another man’s wife.” Brown explained that his beliefs stem from his commitment to chastity. He thinks this is the reason that he believes in chastity.
The TLC star advised, “Don’t take something away from them that doesn’t belong to you,” he said firmly. Aurora tried to lighten the mood, telling producers that Brodie was “definitely thinking about tactics” as her father grilled him. “He’s like, ‘I know how to use knives. I’m trained in mixed martial arts. She’s good, sir,” she joked.
Kody later added that his standards have grown stricter over the years, especially after his three divorces from Christine, Janelle, and Meri. “I feel like I’m more discriminating now,” he admitted. “It’s a totally different story.”
