Marjorie Jackson Engaged After Failed Courtship With Josiah Duggar on ’19 Kids and Counting’
Marjorie Jackson is engaged, more than 10 years after her failed courtship with Josiah Duggar on the TLC series 19 Kids and Counting.
On Monday, January 19, Jackson took to Instagram to announce her engagement to her boyfriend, Phillip Todd.
“Surprised in the city of love 💍,” she captioned the update. “I’m marrying the man of my dreams!”
For the featured image, Jackson pressed her forehead against Todd’s while touching her hand to his cheek, as he rested his hands on her waist. The Eiffel Tower was visible in the background as the sun was nearly finished setting. Other shots in the carousel of pictures showed him getting down on one knee, and the couple smiling as Jackson showed off her engagement ring.
Meanwhile, one shot featured the newly-engaged couple kissing—a definite no-no if she were engaged to a Duggar. (Only displays of affection like hand holding and side hugs were generally permitted during courtships.)
Josiah’s older sister, Jill Duggar, exclaimed, “Ah yay!!! Congrats!!” in the comments.
Many other Instagram users flooded Jackson with well-wishes and congratulations, with one follower declaring, “OMG this is so perfect congrats!!!! 🤍🤍🤍.” Someone else shared, “I hear wedding bells 😍😍😍.”
A different follower wrote, “Congratulations!! So happy for you guys!” Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user commented, “Mr. And Mrs. Phillip Todd!!❤️❤️❤️.”
In April 2015, Marjorie and Josiah announced their courtship after meeting through Josiah’s taking Spanish lessons from her mother. They publicly announced in August of that same year that they had ended their relationship. The breakup came three weeks after TLC canceled 19 Kids and Counting following news of his brother Josh Duggar‘s scandal involving inappropriately touching his sisters as a young teenager.
Ultimately, Josiah married Lauren Swanson in 2018. They share a daughter, Bella, who was born in 2019. Lauren and Josiah also reportedly welcomed a second daughter in 2022, followed by a son, but they have not publicly confirmed the births and are not active publicly on social media.
