Big Shake-Up Ahead: ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 Gets Green Light With Surprising Changes
The legacy of “Dutton Ranch” will continue another year as CBS and Paramount greenlight the smash hit for a new season.
“Dutton Ranch” came out of the gate on the shoulders of its predecessor, “Yellowstone,” with the story of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler starting over in South Texas.
Very quickly though, the show showed its power as the largest launch of a Paramount+ original series with 12.9 million viewers in just the first week, the network claims.
“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+.
The show’s rookie season will come to an end on Friday, July 3, with the announcement coming just before the season’s penultimate episode.
When is ‘Dutton Ranch’ season 2 coming out?
Though season 2 of “Dutton Ranch” is greenlit, no premiere date has been confirmed yet. Officials with Paramount and Paramount+ said they hope to continue the couple’s stories into season two and continue to establish their own identity outside of the flagship plotline from “Yellowstone.”
What’s changing in ‘Dutton Ranch’ season 2?
While officials and “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan are ready for a second season, the show will need to find a new showrunner and executive producer. Creator of “Dutton Ranch” Chad Feehan departed from the project before the first episode aired, yet continued to be listed as creator. Feehan wrote the premiere episode and co-wrote episode seven.
When is the finale of ‘Dutton Ranch?’
“Dutton Ranch” will end its first season on July 3, 2026. The finale will be directed by Emmy Award-winning director Christina Alexandra Voros, who has directed 12 episodes of “Yellowstone.”
