Before giving birth to their first child, Erin and Chad faced multiple miscarriages. In April 2025, Erin shared her candid account of her painful journey. She spoke about it in one of her vlogs, revealing that many nights ended in tears during the early days of her marriage. “[Chad and I held] each other as our hearts ached,” she said.
Erin further added, “We would cry out to God, asking for a baby.” She explained how both of them wondered if they would ever get to hold a little one in their arms. “Heartbreak followed heartbreak, and the waiting felt endless.” In 2015, the couple finally welcomed their first child, Carson. Now they are parents of seven children.

Erin Bates, well known for her appearance on the show Bringing Up Bates, recently gave birth to her seventh child, Henry. Her husband revealed the good news to everyone and also added that Erin has gone into septic shock. Chad said that because of the long and critical labor, this has happened. A few days later, he adisclosed that Erin had also suffered a severe seizure.

Nearly a week ago, Erin posted on her social media handle about the current situation and revealed that she had been discharged. She also added that somehow she has lost function in her right leg. Now, Chad has revealed, Erin still doesn’t have function in her right leg. In a YouTube video posted on Monday, September 22, he gave an emotional update about his wife and the newborn. While speaking about the two of them, he choked several times. He added that Erin still has complications, and she cannot use her right leg for some reason. While the doctors do not have an explanation, they remain hopeful about the recovery, he added. The father of seven further said that the doctors haven’t identified the problems, and that is frustrating, but they are continuing to ask for prayers.
Chad further said that the last three weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions and an experience that they never dreamed of. He also admitted that when the labor started to get lengthy, both parents got suspicious that something was wrong. With his eyes filled with tears, Chad added that they never thought that this would happen to Erin. He further said his wife’s issues with her leg are one of the complications from her health crisis. The father of seven ended the video by saying that they are still seeking prayers and want Erin’s leg to recover soon. “We don’t know the end yet, but we’re very hopeful,” Chad concluded.
