Bringing Up Bates Star Josie Bates Balka Reveals New Details About Son

On Thursday, Josie Bates Balka went to Instagram to share details about her son. She shared multiple photos revealing that her and Kelton’s baby boy is in the NICU. He is seen in the photos receiving light therapy. She wrote alongside the photos, revealing that he will be spending a little more time in the NICU.

The Bringing Up Bates star said, “Our sweet Brooks made his arrival earthside and is spending a little extra time in the NICU getting the care he needs, surrounded by the most incredible nurses, doctors, and so much love. These past few months have held many moments of fear and concern, but God has been so faithful and near through every single stage of this journey. His protection over Brooks has carried us. Thank you for loving our family, lifting our tiny fighter up in your prayers, and celebrating every step forward with us. 🤍 As we sit here watching our baby boy improve daily, we are so thankful!”

Fans Question Why He’s In NICU

Fans immediately went to the comments to share their thoughts about Brooks. Many speculated about what is wrong with their baby boy. Some believed it was just normal jaundice, while others thought there was more to it.

One NICU nurse commented, stating that Josie had a condition in which antibodies attack the baby’s red blood cells. This causes “pathological jaundice (not physiologic which is normal/typical). Pathological jaundice needs more intense treatment to prevent complications.”

So far, Josie has not revealed how long Brooks will be in the hospital. As for his big debut, Josie shared details about him and shared a photo of her mom’s reaction to learning his name. Josie and Kelton named him after Kelly Jo’s grandfather. Their baby boy’s name is Brooks Hallum Balka.
