Michaela has been transparent about her infertility struggles with Brandon. In a 2022 Q&A, the Bringing Up Bates star revealed that she has blood clotting disorders similar to some of her sisters. However, her condition makes her unable to have a child and even makes it impossible for her to undergo IVF or surrogacy. Michaela and Brandon previously attempted to adopt a child, but they failed to qualify on their first attempt. But the two didn’t give up, saying that they would continue to pursue their dreams of having a child, though they’d keep things more private in their second attempt.
Michaela & Brandon Are Officially Parents
Michaela Bates Keilen recently took to YouTube to share a new video about Papa Bill’s passing. The Bringing Up Bates star recalled some of her final moments with Papa Bill. She couldn’t help but get emotional as she shared how much Papa Bill has impacted their lives. Later in the video, Michaela and Brandon announced that they’re officially parents to two kids, a 3-year-old and a newborn.
Brandon and Michaela waited for an entire day for a phone call to see if they were approved as foster parents for the two kids. Michaela added that she would lose it if they were rejected again. The two kids are boys, and it seems the married couple will keep things private about them. Regardless, many fans are celebrating their achievement of finally becoming parents.

Regardless, Michaela was glad that they were able to be on Papa Bill’s side during his final moments. Michaela also revealed that Papa Bill’s last message to her was “Go get them babies,” and his advice has finally come to fruition.
Michaela Bates Keilen then shared that she’s aware of how difficult and complicated it is to be a foster parent. But in just a short time, she admitted that she and Brandon have already fallen in love with their two boys. Michaela also asked for prayer as she and Brandon enter a whole new chapter in their lives.
