Counting On fans think James Duggar is courting a woman they spotted in a new photo circulating on social media—and many have speculated about who she is.
In early August, those who still keep up with the former TLC family discussed a photo of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar‘s 13th child posing next to a blond woman on Reddit.
“Do we know anything about the mystery blond girl who was next to James in Jb birthday photo?” the original poster of the thread asked. “I have seen speculation that could be a Swanson or a Caldwell but I was looking for something with a little bit more weight than just rumors.”
In the comments, many other Redditors agreed that the woman looked like she could be a sister of James’ brother Josiah‘s wife, Lauren Swanson.
“Lydia Swanson. She looks just like Lauren with blonde hair,” one insisted.
Another echoed, “She looks like Lauren with blonde hair. I bet that’s right.”
Meanwhile, someone else shared, “I have seen the posts on tumblr and I think its safe to assume that it is Lydia Swanson. the pictures they have look very similar Io her. Also there is a photo that he is tagged in on his instagram account…”

As of writing, James, 24, has not publicly announced that he is courting anyone, and it’s unclear whether the woman in the photo is Lydia. Of Michelle and Jim Bob’s 19 kids, only six remained unmarried, including: James, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn and Josie.
The Duggars define courting as “dating with a purpose,” and it includes having chaperones at all times and no physical affection except side-hugging. Even when they are engaged, only hand holding and side-hugs are permitted; they typically save their first kiss until their wedding day.
Many of the siblings have gone this route before saying, “I do.” However, Jason Duggar and his wife, Maddie, recently revealed they broke a major courtship rule before marriage.
