Jana Duggar and her husband Stephen Wissmann are continuing to renovate their Nebraska home together — even as new parents! Former reality star has announced that she and husband Stephen Wissmann welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world at the end of December—just one year after the “19 Kids and Counting” alum moved out of the family home and into a $275,000 fixer-upper in Nebraska with her new spouse.
The Counting On alum, 36, documented some of the recent additions she and her husband have made to their home in a “January recap” shared to Instagram on Monday, Feb. 2. Included in the mix is a clip of “Stephen building out our fireplace,” she noted in the caption, which showed her husband drilling into a bare wall. At the bottom, a rectangular cutout where the fireplace would be installed could be seen.

The last slide in the post reveals the “almost finished” gas fireplace. Along with the cozy addition to the living area, the couple added a portrait of the two of them sharing a sweet embrace at the beach to tie the space together.

Duggar also shared some other home-related tasks her family got up to in January, including removing all the lights from their Christmas tree and finally taking the evergreen down.

The new mom — who often makes frequent trips to the hardware store amid her renovations — also documented her son’s “first time” at Lowe’s as they “strolled through the plant section” together as a family.
In her “December recap” shared to Instagram on the same day, the former reality star also included a glimpse of her husband working in a freshly-painted green room, which she noted in the caption was the “baby’s room remodel.” While she didn’t share Archie’s finished room just yet, she has been known to unveil the before and after of spaces she and her husband have worked on in their home together.

Duggar — who is the eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children — has been documenting the renovation process ever since she and Wissmann tied the knot in August 2024. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that same month, Jana revealed that she was leaving Arkansas to start her new life with Wissmann in Nebraska and that the pair were going to renovate a house together. “He has a little house we bought that we’ve been fixing up and getting pulled together, and so that’s been fun,” she said at the time.

The property pales in comparison to the enormous home the Duggars featured in their series of reality shows, which began in September 2008 and ran for seven years before ultimately being canceled amid her brother Josh’s s*xual ass*ult allegati*ns.

Jana quickly began sharing the renovation process on her YouTube channel, admitting that, while she had moved out of her family’s home, she hadn’t hesitated to call her parents to help with their DIY project. “I’m so excited to show you all this space and share with you our renovation plans,” the former TLC star said in one YouTube video. “I cannot wait to see this project come together in real life.”

In her first video showcasing the property, Jana entered the 2,152-square-foot home, revealing a spacious floor plan with bedrooms on every story, as well as a basement and a sizable living area. The reasonably priced, ranch-style home is in northwest Lincoln. It has a main living room with super shiny flooring and two windows, and it flows to the dining area and galley-style kitchen.

There are three bedrooms on the first level, while the other two are on the lower floor, along with a rec room and second bath. The yard is fully fenced, and there’s also a storage shed and a two-car garage. Their first project involved combining two of the first-floor bedrooms into a primary suite, which would include an en suite bathroom, Jana explained. Meanwhile, the duo carried out a full gut renovation of the kitchen, with the newly pregnant reality star turned YouTuber admitting that they’d had to set up a temporary cooking space in another room while they completed the work.

In her most recent video about the renovation, which was posted in April, Jana revealed that work on the property was essentially complete, with just a few additional design details left to finish off. Among these were the addition of a ventilation system in the kitchen, which the former TLC star showed herself completing with relative ease—before she moved on to cutting wood that would serve as new shelves inside one of their cupboards.
While Jana ran into a slight complication when she realized that she had failed to cut the wood to the right size for the space, she managed to trim it down to be the perfect fit after a few more tries. “As the saying goes, ‘Measure twice, cut once,'” she joked as she set about trimming the wood yet again.

She and Stephen were also seen putting together furniture for various spaces in the home, before unboxing some larger items, like a new swivel chair for the living room. The video revealed that the couple had gone for a largely neutral aesthetic in their home, which featured white marble accents in the kitchen, and plenty of beige tones in the living room.
Though Jana previously conceded that the project was a huge undertaking, she admitted to her YouTube viewers that there was something very special about building a home with her husband that they knew was going to serve as a base for their family for years to come.
“Putting in a whole new kitchen has definitely been a huge undertaking,” she said. “Especially since we’ve been doing so much of the work ourselves, with the help of family and friends. “But it’s just so rewarding to see this project coming together. I imagine it’ll be so much more meaningful to use the space in the years to come, remembering all the hard work and elbow grease we put into making this space what it is.”
