Jinger Duggar Forbids Her Kids to Watch This Disney Movie

19 Kids and Counting alum Jinger Duggar and her husband Jeremy Vuolo revealed they won’t let their kids Felicity, 7, Evangeline, 5, and Finn, 7 months, watch certain Disney films.

Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo have personalized their kids’ movie watch list. The Counting On couple revealed they don’t allow their three children—Felicity, 7, Evangeline, 5, and Finn, 7 months—to watch certain Disney films due to their religion.

“We’ve had to navigate thinking, ‘As Christians, how do we handle the spiritual world?’ A lot of Christians think that things are going to overtake them unknowingly,” Jinger, 31, explained in the Dec. 10 episode of the duo’s self-titled podcast. “That’s the kind of setting I grew up in, so there’s a fear that can grip you. There’s one [movie] that I won’t let our kids watch that has a Disney princess.”

After a few seconds of describing the character’s signature “green dress,” she remembered the film’s name: The Princess and the Frog.

“I watched a section of it one time and it goes into Voodoo, and I’m like, ‘I’m not going to let my kids watch that,’” she continued. “I don’t believe that’s true and I don’t want them thinking that’s good.”

However, the Growing Up Duggar author isn’t as opposed to the magical themes that show up in older Disney movies. While she views that material as “pretty harmless,” she and Jeremy, 38, still prefer to keep a close eye on the storyline.

“You even said with the other princess, ‘Man, this is just too much,’” Jeremy admitted of his wife’s occasional reactions. “Or even with Mickey sometimes, you go, ‘So, is there this undercurrent of influence?”

As for the kids programs that have received the Duggar stamp of approval?

“I just found this little show [called] Franklin. It’s an older show, but it’s engaging the kids,” Jinger revealed. “I also like Curious George. I like the slower-paced movies, the older movies—even older Disney movies. It’s kind of fun to let the kids watch that.”

But banning movies is just one of the many hard decisions in the 19 Kids and Counting alum’s motherhood journey. After all, Jinger is also contemplating switching from breastfeeding to formula after her son Finn developed a soy allergy.

“I was just talking to the pediatrician and she was like, ‘You could either cut out dairy and soy, or you can just put him on formula,” she told her husband on their podcast in August. “I’m not feeling like I’m gonna be able to do the whole cutting out all the things to see if it works. So, I might just do the formula, which is hard for me.”
