Jinger Duggar Gets Candid as She Reveals ‘Shocking’ Moments from the Birth of Newborn Son Finnegan

Jinger Duggar Vuolo is opening up about her recent birth experience.

In the latest episode of the Jinger and Jeremy podcast, the podcaster, 31, shared the birth story of her newborn son Finnegan, whom she welcomed on Saturday, March 29, with her husband and podcast co-host Jeremy Vuolo. The couple also shares daughters Evangeline, 4, and Felicity Nicole, 6.

Reflecting on her recent experience, Jinger said that during the days leading up to her son’s arrival, she had an idea about what to expect when giving birth, but admitted that there’s still something so “shocking” about giving birth.

“I think that I had in my mind an idea of what it would feel like to go back into labor and to be in the hospital, and all of the things that I had experienced previously set me up for birth. And so I was thinking, ‘Okay, I kind of know how my body handles all of this,’ ” she said. “And, I thought I was gonna know when I needed an epidural and all of those things. But in the end, when you’re there again, it’s shocking how it feels to be in labor every single time.”

The newly minted mom of three ended up inducing her labor. It’s a decision that initially she was hesitant against, but ultimately “really thankful” she did it.

“I was really thankful for that because I did not wanna have to delay things any longer,” she said. “At some point, you realize, ‘Okay, this baby’s fully cooked, and I just am feeling rather large, uncomfortable, can’t sleep well.’ And I just think it’s time.”

Leading up to the last few weeks of her pregnancy, Jinger said she “tried not to think about the whole labor and delivery process.”

“When I’m walking into that, the last few weeks of pregnancy, I really did not have my hospital bag packed until a couple days before I went to the hospital, literally like two days before,” she said. “I bought a couple of things in advance, set them aside, but I didn’t really have much.”

“I tried not to think too much in advance about it because it does stress me out a little bit,” she added. “I’m not one of those people who really has a full birth plan.”

After everything that she went through welcoming her newborn baby into the world, Jinger said that she’s now in a “much better headspace” than before.

“I was a little nervous about how everything was gonna go and not sure what it would be like to have a third kid in the house because you just … can’t comprehend what it’s gonna be like and how [each kid is] going to adapt,” she said. “But, I think that for me personally, I’ve been doing so well, and I feel like I’m in a much better headspace than I was before.”

“I think there’s so much anxiety that you can feel walking into giving birth and all of that,” she continued. “I just prayed a lot that the Lord would make it something that was sweet, and I wouldn’t continue to feel those nerves and God’s really answered that prayer.”
