Counting On Joseph Duggar has recently made headlines for a serious crime against a child. He has been sitting in an Arkansas jail awaiting extradition. But a new turn of events happened: his wife, Kendra, was also charged, booked, and jailed today, March 20th.
According to a statement from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Duggar admitted to molesting a 9-year-old girl.
Reports say that a 14-year-old girl told her dad, and he called the police, who then recorded Duggar’s admission. The crime happened in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020, when the girl was only 9 years old. She said that Joseph kept asking her to sit on his lap and that he touched her inappropriately. She also said that the Counting On alum “played” with her underwear and rubbed his genitals on her thighs.
Duggar fans shocked by Kendra’s charges
Fans have been devastated by Joseph’s confession and arrest but are more shocked by Kendra’s arrest and charges. Kendra was arrested and charged with putting a child in danger in Arkansas. TTPD tells KNWA/FOX24 that both Duggars are facing four charges of second-degree false imprisonment and four charges of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
New Arkansas Charges Against Joseph Involve Kendra
These charges are different from the Florida charges against her husband. These charges are in Arkansas. Joseph has Florida charges to deal with when he is extradited.
Later, police said that Kendra, who is 27, is facing the same charges in the Arkansas case as her husband.
Local news station KNWA/FOX24 says that police went to the Duggar family’s house at 1 p.m. on March 20 to arrest Kendra, but she wasn’t home at the time. Later, Kendra turned herself in. Kendra was released on a $1,470 bond and spent less than two hours in jail.
The Tonitown Police Department said that this is still an open case, but they won’t say anything else right now because there are kids involved. Joseph Duggar’s booking says that his court date for his Arkansas charges is on April 29 at 2 p.m. in Elm Springs District Court.
