Fans of Bringing Up Bates have been following Erin Bates as she’s endured various health concerns following the birth of her seventh child. As the family had been asking for prayers, some have also been sending comments of another nature to Erin and her family. Since then, family matriarch Kelly Jo Bates has responded to these claims.
Bringing Up Bates Star Kelly Jo Bates Previously Shared Her First Moments Meeting Her New Grandson, Henry
The Bates family became known to viewers thanks to the UP TV series, Bringing Up Bates. This show followed Gil and Kelly Jo Bates and their nineteen children, running for ten seasons. The show itself was a spin-off of United Bates of America. In late August, one of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ daughters, Erin, had news to share. She had given birth to her seventh child, Henry, on August 25, 2025.
However, at the time, it was shared that Erin had been undergoing complications following the pregnancy. During the original birth announcement, the family also called on fans for prayers. In a later update, it was shared that Erin endured a severe seizure and was spending time in the ICU. As previously reported, the news caused some fans to comment on the number of children Erin and Chad were having, amid her current health concerns. At the time, some claimed that Erin had previously expressed a desire to have ten children. However, the family has also come to Erin’s defense during this time, especially her mother, Kelly Jo Bates. Previously, Kelly Jo took to Instagram to share her first moments with her grandson, Henry, on social media.

More recently, a message defending Erin came out through The Bates Family Blog, especially in light of comments concerning the number of Chad and Erin’s children. As it opened up, the message read, “I do want to remind you all; now is not the time to be preaching to Chad and Erin about not having [any more] children.” “This woman is literally fighting for her life and getting worse by the minute. We need to lift Erin and Chad up in prayers. Prayer that her body will heal so she can get home to her babies. Prayers that Chad has the strength to be both dad & husband during this, but most of all we need to lift Charles, Brooklyn, Everly, Holland, Finley, William and Henry up in prayers as well.”
Fans also took to the comments to comment on the recent share. Many took the message to heart, with fans sharing their prayers and support towards those named in the share. Some comments included:
