Kendra Duggar Hit with Devastating News About Her Four Children from Sister-In-Law Anna

Kendra Duggar said that she will not be able to see her four children until late April, according to her sister-in-law Anna Duggar. Anna revealed this in an email sent to Joseph Duggar on March 21 while he was in custody at the Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas, which was obtained by PEOPLE. She sent that email the morning after Kendra was arrested and booked into the same facility as her husband on four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree.

Anna wrote in the email that after speaking with Kendra earlier that day, she was impressed with her resolve, but at the same time devastated over her current circumstances. “She was strong on the phone call, except for when she talked about it being a month before she can see the kids,” Anna wrote. “My heart breaks for all of you.”

Anna also seemed certain that Kendra planned to fight the charges, which two weeks after her arrest have still not been formally filed by prosecutors in Washington County Court. “I know she will win in the end… it just might take time,” Anna wrote. “Kendra is an amazing woman — the Grace of God is flowing from her life. She is a gem!”

Duggar family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar made a similar comment in his email to Joseph. “It is ridiculous that they charged Kendra and arrested her,” he wrote, telling his son: “We were praying that we can get her charges dropped.”

Anna has proven to be a gem for both Joseph and Kendra due to her unique depth of knowledge on matters that have become of the utmost importance to the couple in recent weeks.

This is because her husband Josh Duggar found himself at the center of multiple controversies between 2005 and 2021, which included: revelations that he molested four of his sisters when he was a teenager; claims that he committed adultery through the app Ashley Madison; and a federal criminal conviction for receiving and possessing material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Josh is now serving a 12-year prison sentence at a federal facility in Texas while his wife Anna continues to stand by his side and raise their seven children by herself, the youngest of whom was born just a few weeks before Josh’s trial.

Kendra, meanwhile, said she is not putting her focus on Joseph at this time because she is fighting a more important battle — being with her children again. She previously acknowledged that she was no longer with her children on jail phone calls with her husband Joseph that were obtained by PEOPLE. When Joseph asked how the children were doing on a March 22 call, Kendra said: “From what I hear they are doing good.”

Two days later, Kendra adopted a far more urgent and angry tone when speaking about the situation. “I’m fighting for the kids and they’re my number one priority right now,” Kendra told Joseph. She later explained to her husband: “I just want you to know, through all of this, whatever happens, that’s who’s coming first.” Kendra also told Joseph on that same call that she could not focus on putting back the pieces to any other puzzles until she was with her children.

She was last with the children on March 20, the day of her arrest. That means there are still three more weeks until she can see them, based on Anna’s account. Joseph meanwhile cannot be left alone with any of his four children ahead of his trial after agreeing to bond conditions including no unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 18.
