No Written Contract, No Money
There have been a lot of questions come up during the latest season of Sister Wives. Although it is nearly two years behind reality, there are still things being discussed on the show that have fans wondering.

From a legal standpoint, no one signed any legally binding contracts. Even though they stated that the money was a loan and expressed that there was a timeline where it was to be repaid, it is still seen as a gift without a contract.
At the end of the day, Janelle and Meri Brown won’t see a dime of that money back unless Robyn and Kody suddenly feel the need to repay them. This is because, in Nevada and Arizona, a contract is necessary to be owed repayment.
Kody Brown and Robyn Brown have sold their home two months after they put it on the market, In Touch can confirm. The property in Flagstaff, Arizona, was sold for $1,775,000 on Monday, November 4, 2024 according to the online listing viewed by In Touch.
Kody Brown and Robyn Brown are living large in their new $2.1 million home in Flagstaff, Arizona, but In Touch can confirm they relied on a large bank loan to finance this major purchase. Kody, 55, and Robyn, 45, made a down payment of $420,000 on the 7,884-square-foot home and took out a loan of $1,680,000 to complete the purchase, according to the warrant deed obtained by In Touch.
Could The TV Show Help Janelle & Meri Brown Get Their Money Back?
Just last month, the Brown family fans watched as Robyn Brown admitted feeling betrayed by Meri Brown, who threatened legal action over the land dispute. The Flagstaff property, bought in 2018 for $820,000, was initially meant to be a shared home for Kody Brown, his then-wives Meri, Janelle, and Christine, along with his current wife Robyn and all of their children.
‘Sister Wives’ Stars Close Coyote Pass Chapter With $680K Profit
After years of tension and on-screen disagreements, the Brown family has officially closed the chapter on their once-shared dream property in Flagstaff. Kody, his current wife, Robyn, and former wives, Meri and Janelle, finalized the sale of their Coyote Pass land for $1.5 million, turning a $680,000 profit from their initial purchase of $820,000. Christine, who split from Kody in 2021, had already signed over her portion of the land to Kody and Robyn for just $10 in July 2022.
As The Sun reported, the property was divided into multiple parcels: one 2.42-acre lot held by Kody and Robyn sold for $305,000, and another 2.42-acre piece co-owned by Meri and Janelle also sold for $305,000. A 4.48-acre section sold for $400,000, and the final parcel closed at $490,000 and all finalized on April 14, 2025.
It is not entirely clear if Janelle and Meri Brown have a case or not. Of course, it’s true that you should always get something in writing any time you loan money out, but there is proof via the television show that they entered this agreement. Fans will have to wait and see how things play out.
