‘Seeking Sister Wife’ Star Garrick Merrifield Appears in Court for November Domestic Violence Arrest: Here’s What Happened at His Hearing
Garrick Merrifield appeared in court Tuesday for a pre-trial meeting following his November arrest for domestic violence against his second wife, Lorrana, during which the court granted the Seeking Sister Wife star’s request for an out-of-state trip to California later this month.
According to Colorado’s The Mountain Mail, Garrick’s defense attorney requested more time at Tuesday’s pre-trial meeting in order to allow the prosecution to look at the case and decide how both sides would like to proceed. Garrick’s attorney reportedly made this request after notifying the court that he had not yet had a chance to speak with the prosecutor, who is serving as the interim prosecutor for the case. while the primary prosecutor is studying to take the Colorado bar exam.

Garrick’s attorney requested that another pre-trial meeting be held January 27 for possible arraignment or sentencing, which indicates a plea deal may be submitted. In the event that sentencing doesn’t occur on that date, Garrick’s case will proceed to trial. The defense attorney also requested that the TLC star be allowed to travel out-of-state to California from January 8 to January 15, which was also granted by the court.
Garrick’s trip to court this week comes just days after Lorrana confirmed on social media that she has forgiven Garrick for the events that led to his November arrest. As The Ashley previously reported, Garrick– who welcomed daughter Sarah Mae with Lorrana in July– was arrested November 24 for domestic violence and obstruction of telephone services.

The affidavit for the father of four’s arrest warrant stated that Lorrana informed police that Garrick took her phone away during an argument after she threatened to call the police on him. She went on to allege that Garrick refused to allow her to contact her family in Brazil and that he threatened to call Immigration & Customs Enforcement on her.
Lorrana also reportedly informed law enforcement that someone had disconnected the Wi-Fi in the Merrifield home at the time of the November incident, which she suspected Garrick may have done to further prevent her from making outside communication.

Garrick went on to bond out of jail on the same day of his arrest; days later, a mandatory protective order was issued, preventing him from making contact with his second wife. (It is unknown if that protective order remains in place or if it was only temporary.)
While Garrick and his first wife, Dannielle, appeared to distance themselves from Lorrana in the immediate aftermath of Garrick’s arrest by wiping photos of Lorrana from their respective social media pages, all parties are currently following each other on social media. Despite this, it remains unknown if Dannielle had any part in the alleged events that led to Garrick’s arrest.
Meanwhile, neither Lorrana, Garrick nor Dannielle have released a public statement addressing the ‘Seeking Sister Wife’ star’s November trip to the slammer. Garrick is set to return to court January 27 in Salida, Colorado.
