‘Sister Wives’ Kody & Robyn Brown Have New Wife Prospect — Viewers Speculate Janelle’s Return!

TLC’s reality series Sister Wives returns for Season 20 on Sunday, September 28, and the trailer is finally here! Kody Brown and his wife Robyn Brown have been living a much different life than they planned at the start of their marriage, when Robyn was joining a polygamous family with three other wives who preceded her.

Since Kody’s first three wives – Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown –​​​​​​​ left the fractured relationship, Robyn has had to adjust to living monogamously with her husband, who swore he was no longer interested in plural marriage. At least, that was where we left the Brown family in Season 19. But the trailer for Season 20 is promising a whole new batch of trouble brewing for the Browns.

Kody Has Changed His Tune About Polygamy…Again?

As usual, the patriarch of the family is stirring up trouble in the family. The most shocking reveal in the trailer is that Brown, who has spent years swearing off his polygamist lifestyle, now seems to be having another change of heart. Brown appears ready to return to his polygamist roots, as he boasts to Robyn that another woman has allegedly been reaching out to him inquiring about joining the family.

Kody breaks the news to Robyn that he received a message from a woman who wants to get to know them. Her goal is to join the family as a new wife, but how does this go down? For years, his former first wife, Meri Brown, was allegedly the one who found the wives. Could they respond to a letter and find true love that way? Kody laughs as he is relaying the message to his wife, but she goes stonefaced. Robyn is not excited about this, although, as aforementioned, she never fully wanted to give up on polygamy.

Even though Robyn Brown has always wanted many wives around her, she is not happy that someone is messaging her husband. Sister Wives fans saw her reaction when he shared that a woman contacted him, and they could see she was seething:

• Notice Robin’s response to someone joining the family. She already got rid of the originals, nobody else is coming in. She ruined the dynamic.
• The look on Robyn’s face when he mentions being contacted by someone to join the family. She was not having it. I love it.

The second most shocking moment is when a clip shows Kody admitting to Janelle that his much-reviled statement about never loving her “wasn’t true.” This is followed by a scene where a friend inquires if Janelle would ever consider returning to the marriage, and instead of a heated denial, she simply shrugs her shoulders. Now, this is likely just a trick of reality TV editing, since there is no way to know what Janelle’s real answer will be until the new season airs, but the thought of her second-guessing a return to a marriage with Kody is maddening.
