Sister Wives’ Mykelti Brown Drops Bombshell on Meri, Admitting She Still Speaks Negatively About Her for ‘Revenge’
In a watch-along of last week’s episode of Sister Wives hosted on the Patreon channel she shares with her husband Tony Padron, Mykelti Brown once again called out her former “stepmom” Meri and explained that, by slamming Meri on her social media, she is finally getting even for how Meri treated her while she was growing up. “I am not, like, trying to be pro-Dad or anti-Meri,” Mykelti said during the livestream when the topic of Meri was brought up. “I typically am more pro-Dad and anti-Meri because, well, I have a very large past with Meri and she was not a good person to me, ever, and my dad was. He wasn’t always, but I had a lot of good moments with my dad so I’m allowed to be more forgiving toward him because of some of the good moments that I have had with him,” she said in the video, which was shared by @aycarambatlc on TikTok.
Mykelti went on to remind her viewers that Meri allegedly treated her poorly when she was a kid. “I have not had good moments with Meri,” Mykelti said. “She was an awful person to me growing up so I probably need to have my revenge arc of her, and this is the best way that I can do it: speak publicly negatively about her. So, maybe I haven’t healed or moved on either, that’s what this is.”

Over the years, Mykelti and several of her siblings have made various claims about Meri and her treatment of Kody’s kids— particularly Mykelti— when they were younger. Back in November, Mykelti talked about Meri’s parenting style in an interview with the Pop Psych YouTube show, as The Ashley reported.
“Meri’s personality is very hard. She has a very aggressive personality,” Mykelti said in the interview. “Not physically but, like, ‘go in, get it done.’ It doesn’t matter your age; it doesn’t matter your capabilities. It doesn’t matter when she asks, you go in and you get it done. If you complain, you get in big trouble. If you don’t do it exactly to her specifications, you get in big trouble. If you have questions about how to do it better, you get in trouble. If you didn’t do it in a timely manner, you get in trouble.
“She was very, very hard and she was very strict,” she continued. “She tended to pick on me a lot, more so than the other kids. I couldn’t tell you why.”

In 2023, Mykelti’s brother Paedon said in an interview that “abrasive” and “kind of mean” were not strong enough words to describe Meri. “They are not aggressive enough words…there’s definitely things I can’t say. But when I’ve gone into thorough detail with people [about what Meri did], it blew their mind…we were never safe around her,” Paedon said.
That same year, sister Gwendlyn wrote on Patreon that “Meri had moments where she was rude and scary but I don’t remember her getting physical with anyone except for Mykelti and that was only once.” Mykelti disputed her sister’s claim on her Patreon, saying, “I don’t remember Meri ever being physically abusive to me, but she was very emotionally and verbally abusive to all of us when we were younger, until I think we got old enough and she stopped because, I don’t know, we were able to fight back or something I guess. We were just too old for her to continue.”
Commenters on Reddit and TikTok challenged Mykelti’s feelings toward Meri, with some pointing out Mykelti had Meri at her wedding and that Mykelti even worked for Meri for a while as an adult. (Mykelti posted pictures from the wedding with her mother Christine and stepmoms Meri, Janelle and Robyn at her wedding on several Mother’s Days.)
Others had sympathy not just for Mykelti but for all the members of the Brown family, blaming the complicated family dynamic for the issues between the two women and for Mykelti’s seemingly warmer feelings toward her father.

Though currently estranged from her father Kody, Mykelti has stated that she’s open to rebuilding her relationship with her father if he puts in the effort to fix his relationships with all of his children. “My dad has reached out multiple times,” Mykelti said during the Pop Psych interview. “He reached out before he left [to film Special Forces]. Every time we’ve communicated, he’s reached out and he’s the one extending the foot but it’s hard because, with me, I’m a package deal. You’ve got to treat my whole family nice; you’ve got to treat my kids nice. You’ve got to talk to all of us. You can’t just have me. You have to have all of us.”
Even though their relationship remains in a rough spot, it seems Kody did receive a Christmas gift from his daughter. In a video posted to her Patreon and shared by Tuff Topic on YouTube, Mykelti talked about the gifts she was making for the people she considers to be her parents. “I’m only making Christmas presents and I’m only making a scrapbook for my parents, I don’t consider Meri to be my parent, I consider her to be my dad’s ex-wife, so she’s not part of my life by choice of my own through action that she’s done, she will not be receiving a gift this year,” she said.
