If they’re legitimate, they certainly paint Kody and Robyn Brown in an ever more horrific light.

As many Sister Wives fans know, Preston Jessop is battling cancer. As of the time of writing, his GoFundMe has raised a little over $14,000. But no amount of money can repair the damage done to his reputation on Sister Wives. His family wants justice.

“A little info from Robyn’s Ex SIL,” a Sister Wives viewer posted on Reddit today, attaching two screenshots. However, it’s worth noting the OP misspoke. The speaker in the screenshot clearly identifies herself as David Preston Jessop’s cousin. “As David Preston Jessop’s full first cousin. I cannot stay silent!” the screenshot begins. “The reason Preston refused to let his children say that they wanted Kody to adopt them, has to do with the same reason Robyn forced them to call Kody ‘Daddy.’ Robyn literally made her children do things her way OR ELSE! That is what caused them anxiety!!!”

The screenshot goes on to allege that Robyn rarely allowed her children to speak with Preston on the phone. When such occasions did occur, he reportedly could hear her instructing the children on what to say. He also reportedly never wanted Kody Brown to legally adopt his children.

“As far as child support goes, Robyn forged Preston’s name on credit applications when she ruined her credit (HER 30,000 dollar debt) so that when she left after Preston filed for [divorce], it left him and his construction company un ruins!” the comment continues. “His father and brothers came together and helped him with part of that horrendous debt, but it left Preston in a deep depression that he nearly didn’t recover from. I’m so glad the story is out and that my sweet, gentle cousin can hopefully have his life back and move on! Robyn ruins lives and families!”

Other Redditors admitted they weren’t entirely surprised by the information. It’s been widely speculated for years that Kody and Robyn orchestrated the whole adoption storyline and deliberately lied about Preston Jessop on TV.

Recently, stories have circulated online, claiming that David had passed away, causing fans to ask questions. As one fan wrote on social media, “I just read that David Jessop passed on…is this true?” They later added, “I know he was very sick and there was rumors of Dayton staying with him for a minute. Does anyone have any information?” Commenters asked where the original poster could have gotten the information from. When asked, the original poster shared, “I just saw it in passing in a comment.” As another fan mused, “Given your source, I’d say unlikely.”

Commenters also pointed out other holes in the story. As one fan noted, David “typically goes by Preston.” The “Preston” name is notably used in the family’s GoFundMe page. That said, the original poster claimed to have seen David identified as “Dayton’s dad.” Images of an obituary also popped up online, claiming that David recently passed away. One such post contained the caption, “Robyn’s ex-husband, David Jessop, has officially passed away after a long battle with leukemia. R.I.P.”

David’s Family Previously Shared An Update On A GoFundMe Page

However, commenters also found issues with the post. As one commentator noted, there was something awkward in the phrasing that David had “officially” passed on. They wrote, “‘Officially passed away’??? As opposed to unofficially passed away?? What does that mean?”

Another issue was the image used in the obituary. As some fans noted, the image appeared to be artificially edited, with some musing it looked like David and Kody fused together. Aside from differences in color, David’s bangs were also noticeably different between the two photos.

The story appears to be a hoax. In all likelihood, this news would be shared by the family, especially through the GoFundMe page. In fact, in a more recent update, David’s family also recently shared that he was doing well in August 2024. According to the GoFundMe page, it was shared, “Summer is always such a busy time that I just now realized I haven’t updated everyone on how Preston has been! He’s had 2 Dr appointments since I last wrote and both have been great!”

“Numbers are good and has been told to keep with the chemo pill he’s on, which are hard on him but grateful that they’ve helped so much. He’s been told he would have to keep on them for at least 3 more yrs in hopes to keep things in deep remission.”
