Travis Clark Makes First Statement Since Admitting to Cheating on His Wife Katie Bates
Travis Clark has resurfaced on social media for the first time since he admitted in January to cheating on his wife of four years, Katie. In a post to Instagram on Wednesday, Travis updated Bringing Up Bates fans on what he’s been doing since confessing his affair, and revealed where his marriage to Katie currently stands.
As The Ashley told you earlier this week, Katie and Travis recently returned from a four-day intensive therapy retreat, in which Katie stated she got individual and couples’ therapy. In his post, Travis called the time period since he committed adultery (which was around December) “humbling.”
“I’ve been sitting in what I did for a couple months now, and I feel so much inside but it’s hard to find the right words,” he wrote in the caption of a post featuring photos from his marriage to Katie. “At the end of last year I made decisions I deeply regret. I’m disappointed, ashamed, and honestly disgusted with myself. The last couple months have been humbling. ”
Travis— with whom Katie shares two small children— went on to write that he has done a lot of work on himself in an attempt to save his marriage. “A lot of hard work, therapy, time with God… I know I’m not owed anything, but I am desperately fighting for my wife and my family every single day,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family.”
As fans may remember, Travis admitted to cheating on his wife just hours after she announced in January that she suffered a miscarriage. Travis didn’t mention the miscarriage on social media but instead shared the shocking news that he had an affair.
“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology,” the post began. “I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t began to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry. I’m sorry for the pain, humiliation, and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices. I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for,” he added.
Katie responded to Travis’ initial post soon after, informing fans that she was not sure what she wanted to do in regard to her marriage. “This is not a quick or easy process, and it is not one I am taking lightly,” she explained, adding that she has consulted legal counsel. “Every decision about our future will be made slowly and carefully, with what is best for our family and our children as the highest priority.”

After returning from the therapy retreat earlier this week, Katie shared on social media that the experience was very helpful for her. “It was hard. Emotional. Stretching in ways I didn’t full expect,” she wrote. “But it was also one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I’m leaving better than I came, and that alone feels like an answered prayer.”
Travis’ post on Instagram on Wednesday received a mix of supportive and not-so-supportive comments. “Still praying for you guys, love y’all,” read a comment left by Katie’s family members behind the @BatesKitchen account. (Travis’ post was also “liked” by the account of Katie’s brother Zach and his wife Whitney.) Others slammed Travis for bringing the topic back to social media.
“You regret you got caught,” one person wrote to Travis. “Otherwise you’d still be cheating. It’s the truth. Now it’s all over social media for the world to see Katie’s hurt.” “You gotta just keep this between your family & God,” someone else wrote. “You brought shame upon your wife & children and you continue to make it public.” As of press time, neither Katie nor Travis has filed for divorce.
