Country singer Lainey Wilson is showing off a brand-new body following a 20-pound weight loss. Fans first began to take notice of her body in January 2023, when a video of her pert posterior went viral on TikTok.

“My booty introduced my music to a lot of folks and I’m OK with that. I think ‘what would Dolly Parton do?’” she said in an interview. “You know, I’ve been at this a long time and if you found out about my music and stuck around because of the butt or because of the music … you’re welcome!”

As the year continued, Lainey went on to show off her weight loss at events like the iHeartRadio Music Awards and the CMT Music Awards, on talk shows, as well as in Instagram photos.

In her 2024 documentary, Lainey discussed the online shaming of her butt and as well as her body image.

Lainey declared in 2020 that she would have a “year of health.” She changed her diet, adding in more fruits and vegetables and cutting out sugar, dairy and processed foods. The “Heart Like a Truck” singer also hired a personal trainer, and the weight came off gradually.

Lainey showed off her weight loss in a blue crop top and skin-tight blue and black leopard print bell bottoms while performing at the CMT Awards in April 2023.

In June 2023, Lainey shut down rumors that she used weight loss gummies to shed the pounds. “People will do whatever to make a dollar, even if it is lies. Cause ain’t nobody sent me any gummies,” she said in an Instagram video. “I don’t want y’all spending your money on something that ain’t real. Do not fall for it. If I have lost weight, it’s because I’m working hard, playing hour-and-a-half shows and running around every night of my life. And to be honest, me losing weight or gaining weight ain’t got anything to do with my music.”

Lainey shared photos from Christmas with her family on Instagram and looked gorgeous in a pair of velvet pants, which she paired with a colorful sweater and vest.

“If this is what you call filling your cup, then mine is to the brim,” she wrote. “Merry Christmas, y’all.”

MAY 2024: ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS

Lainey went braless in a stylish red pantsuit at the ACM Awards, where she took home Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year honors.

Later that month, the “God Bless Texas” singer discussed the body image situation surrounding her butt going viral in the Hulu documentary, Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country.

“It was November of 2022. I was scrolling on TikTok and I noticed a few videos of my butt that had gone viral. And then I noticed like a week later, it continued and continued. And then the next week I was like, ‘Golly, it’s still there.’ It wasn’t just like a small little viral moment. It was a big – no pun intended – moment,” Lainey began.

She lamented, “I can’t even scroll on TikTok on my ‘For You’ page without seeing my fat butt on everything.”

The doc showed the Grammy winner’s original socil media response, where she told fans, “Whatever brings the people in, I’m happy. I’m happy you’re here,” about discovering the songstress.

“I’m proud of you, and I’m proud of how you handled it,” interviewer Robin Roberts told the singer, who responded, “First of all, how did y’all just notice that I’ve got a big ‘ol butt? It’s been back there the whole time.”

“I went back to ‘How would Dolly [Parton] handle this situation? How would Reba [McEntire] handle this situation?’ They’d laugh about it and move on with it,” she continued.

Lainey gave the advice, “Don’t go down the rabbit hole of looking at comments. I’ve learned my lesson with that,” when it came to body image, adding, “At the end the day, me gaining a few pounds or losing a few pounds, it ain’t got nothing to do with my story, me singing or my songwriting. ”
