Dutton Ranch Threatens To Blow The Lid Off Of Beth & Rip’s Biggest Secret

Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening) let Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) know that she’s aware of Beth and Rip Wheeler’s (Cole Hauser) greatest sin inĀ Dutton Ranch. Beth and Beulah are now a power couple of their own after forging a partnership to bring 10-Petals Ranch-branded black angus steaks to high-end clients.

Beth and Beulah scored their first victory as business partners inĀ Dutton RanchĀ episode 6. Flying by private jet to Chicago, Beth’s corporate shine opened the door to a big fish client, restaurateur Zane Nash (Marlon Young). However, it was Beulah telling the Jacksons’ colorful family history in Rio Paloma, Texas, that won Western movie lover Nash over. Zane Nash was appropriately charmed and dazzled by Beth and Beulah. Together, they combine the Duttons and the Jacksons, two of the greatest ranching families in America. Yet there is, naturally, a power dynamic between these two alpha females, and Beulah used Beth’s past to know who was really in charge.

Beulah Hints That She Knows Beth & Rip Killed Jamie Dutton

Beulah at the Bar

Celebrating their win at a posh Chicago bar, Beulah evoked the mysteriousĀ disappearance of Jamie DuttonĀ (Wes Bentley), hinting that she suspects the story that Montana’s former Attorney General disappeared isn’t on the up and up. Beth deflected, saying that sheĀ “doesn’t think”Ā about her adopted brother, but Beulah’s underlying threat was heard loud and clear. Of course, Beth and Rip did kill Jamie Dutton and sent him to the Train Station inĀ Yellowstone‘s series finale. Beth had sworn she would kill Jamie throughoutĀ Yellowstone. Jamie’s key role in the murder of their father, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), was the excuse Beth needed to finally end her adopted brother. Jamie would have killed Beth had Rip not intervened and finished the Attorney General off.

According to the official cover story, Jamie disappeared after trying to kill Beth, and the Attorney General is implicated in John Dutton’s murder. However, Beulah did her own due diligence on Beth and the Dutton family inĀ Dutton RanchĀ episode 2, just as Beth researched the Jackson family’s history to talk her way into a job with Beulah inĀ Dutton Ranch episode 5.

Beulah doesn’t actually know the truth, and there’s no way for her to confirm her suspicions, since only Beth and Rip know Jamie went to the Train Station. Still, Beulah hinted about Jamie to gauge Beth’s reaction. Dutton kept a stone face and betrayed nothing, but she learned that Beulah can only be trusted so far as Jackson will push the Jamie button if she needs to.

Why Beulah Knowing About Jamie Is So Dangerous For Beth & Rip

Beth Dutton and Beulah in Chicago-1

The main reason Beulah evoked Jamie Dutton to Beth was to establish her power over Dutton. It was also a retaliation for how Beth showboated her knowledge of the Jackson family inĀ Dutton RanchĀ episode 5. Turnabout was fair play for Beulah, and it was proof that ‘two can play that game.’

Beulah knows that she holds Beth and Rip’s fortunes in her hand. While Beth is more akin to a business arrangement, she still works for Beulah just like everyone else. Especially Rip, who is a bona fide employee as theĀ new 10-Petals foreman. To Beulah’s credit, however, she knows what a resource Beth and Rip are if tapped properly.

There’s no real way to tie Jamie Dutton’s disappearance to Beth and Rip, and Montana’s authorities have already looked into it. Yet if Beulah pressed that button, it would bring trouble to the Dutton Ranch. The Jackson family controls Rio Paloma’s Sheriff’s office, and an investigation into Beth and Rip could ultimately glean the truth about Jamie. Beth and Rip can keep Jamie Dutton buried as much as they can, but the truth about the late Montana Attorney General followed them to Rio Paloma. Jamie Dutton is a nuclear option for Beulah to use against Beth and Rip, but a lot has to happen inĀ Dutton RanchĀ to sour Beth and Beulah’s alliance for that to happen.
