Katie Bates shared that she and her husband, Travis Clark, have suffered a pregnancy loss. In a video posted on Instagram on Saturday, Jan. 16, the Bringing Up Bates star, 25, shared a clip of herself holding up a positive pregnancy test before putting her hand up to her mouth in shock. She then showed herself buying a onesie and placing it on a bed alongside a teddy bear and a few balloons to surprise Travis, 24, with the big news.
In the second half of the video, however, Katie could be seen lying in a hospital bed with tears rolling down her cheeks. “I just lost my baby,” she said through sobs as someone held her hand and comforted her from the side of the bed.
While solemn music played in the background, a woman’s voice said, “I think I will ask God why for the rest of my life. And never will I come to understand it. Even if God himself came in front of me and told me the reason, I don’t think I will accept it.” “Some loves are too hard to bear and with great love comes great pain,” the audio continued. “And with great loss comes the greatest pain of all. If love could’ve saved you, you would’ve lived forever.” In the caption, Katie wrote, “I will spend the rest of my life missing you 🪽.”
Katie and Travis welcomed their first baby, daughter Hailey James, in February 2023 and welcomed their son, Harvey Gray, on Sept. 29, 2024. Now, the couple’s families and friends are showing their support for the family of four amid their loss.
“There’s no way to describe the pain of a loss like this,” the Bates family wrote in the comments from a collective social media account, featuring content from Gil and Kelly Bates and their 19 kids. “Our hearts are all broken, but we know we will meet this precious little one someday in glory!”

Katie’s siblings — including Carli Stewart, Lydia Romeike Bates, Zach Bates, Lawson Bates and more — were also quick to express their heartbreak.
- “My heart is broken for you 💔 love you, sis!! 😭,” Carlie wrote, while Lydia added, “I’m so so sorry 💔💔💔 praying for you every day🙏♥️.”
- Zach emphasized that “our hearts are broken” for his sister, and Lawson expressed, “We’re so so sorry. Love you 💔.”
Katie Bates’ Husband Reveals He Cheated 1 Day After Bringing Up Bates Couple Announced Pregnancy Loss
Clark, 24, shared the confession on his Instagram Stories on Saturday, Jan. 17, one day after Bates announced the couple lost their third baby.
“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust,” he wrote in a post. “There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry,” Clark continued. He then apologized for “the pain, humiliation, and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices. I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for,” the musician said. “I am taking responsibility by getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man, regardless of outcome. I ask for privacy and grace for Katie as she processes this in her own time,” Clark concluded, signing off his message with his name.

Bates’ brother, Lawson Bates, seemingly alluded to Clark’s confession through an Instagram Reel that said, “One day, someone might tell your kids… ‘You’re just like your dad.’ Make sure it’s a compliment, not an insult.”
