Not Just Bad Luck? Shocking Claims Suggest Robyn Had a Hand in Meri Brown’s Catfish Scandal
The Sister Wives Season 20 Tell-All wrapped up on Sunday with Meri Brown finally admitting that many of her trust issues with former sister wife Robyn were caused by Robyn’s actions in 2015, when Meri was the victim of a catfishing scandal. For the first time, Meri publicly revealed that she believes Robyn played a part in the catfishing scandal.
As fans of ‘Sister Wives’ likely remember (because it was a topic of discussion on the show for years), it was revealed in Season 6 that Meri had engaged in a romantic relationship online with a man named Sam, who was later revealed to be a woman. Meri and Kody were married at the time (and remained so for another eight years); however, the catfishing scandal put a strain on the couple’s already rocky union, with Meri referring to that time in her life on the Season 20 Tell-All as the “dark times.”

Despite the catfishing scandal happening more than a decade ago, the topic was heavily discussed on Part 4 of the Tell-All, with Meri even suggesting that Robyn made the situation worse for her at the time by leaking details of their private conversations. “ … I think [Robyn] was trying [to help] but there were certain things that I would say to her that would be found out,” Meri said. “I would have conversations with her and then, my private conversation, things would be found out. Other people would find out.”
Later in the Tell-All, Meri admitted that she “felt betrayed by Robyn,” reiterating that Robyn would come over to talk to her about the catfishing scandal and then “other stuff would happen and other stories would be out there,” suggesting that Robyn was sharing the details of their conversations with other people. “I’m not saying I know who was the leak,” Meri noted, before then deciding to reveal that she believes Robyn was telling things to the catfisher.
“I just know that– you know what? No. No, there were times that I would have a conversation with Robyn that the catfisher would find out about,” Meri revealed. “And it was specifically only with Robyn?” Tell-All host Sukanya “Suki” Krishnan asked. “Nobody else knew?” “Correct,” Meri said, adding that there was “a huge lack of trust there” with Robyn because of these incidents. “ … I don’t believe that she did it intentionally to hurt me, I think she did it to try to help the situation, but she kept making it worse and kept making it worse,” Meri said.
While Meri alleged that Robyn was sharing the details of their conversations with “a friend that she had at the time that was in communication with the catfisher,” Robyn denied involvement. The breakdancing superstar maintained that she was there for Meri during her “dark times” and said she was unaware of the “betrayal of trust” that allegedly happened between them.

“ … it’s her new narrative,” Robyn said of her former sister wife. “I mean, she used to say that, that I was there for her. Now she’s saying I wasn’t … .“ … [I] don’t know what she’s talking about … that’s news to me … ,” Robyn told Suki.
As Part 4 of the Tell-All continued, Kody’s ex-wife Christine spoke about her own trust issues with Robyn and how she, like Meri, had experiences where she would have a conversation with Robyn and the contents of the conversation would get back to Kody or other people. When asked about these alleged situations, Kody accused his ex-wives of “scapegoating Robyn,” calling their claims “bulls**t.” Kody was then asked if there were any times that he could recall when Robyn told him something that had been told to her in confidence. In response, the father of 18 admitted that Robyn had “probably” been the one who told him about the “catfishing stuff.” “But I don’t know that she was told that in confidence or if she saw that online,” Kody added.
Later in the Tell-All, Meri and her BFF Jenn Sullivan recalled to Suki a conversation they attempted to have in Las Vegas with Kody “during the catfish time,” which Jenn said Kody “refused to accept.” Meri later explained that the conversation was an attempt for her to let Kody know that the person catfishing her was “kind of coming after [her] and kind of coming after [our family].” She said she also wanted to fill Kody in on the “lies” and “manipulation” she was being subjected to. “We tried very hard to, like, give him all the information he was asking for and because he didn’t want to hear it, he shut [Meri] down and that was the end of it,” Jenn claimed.

Meri said it was at this point that she realized Kody didn’t want to have a conversation with her about “what actually is going on,” as he already had a “a different narrative” in his head of the situation. She also alleged that when her catfisher decided to make some of their exchanges public, it was their version of the story, not her version “and not the truth.” As The Ashley told you last week, Robyn insisted on the Tell-All that Meri had no reason to distrust her, claiming she “had her freaking back” and arguing that she only spoke to Kody about the catfishing scandal to try to get him and Meri to repair their relationship and because she was concerned for Meri.
“I was talking to [Meri and asking], ‘What is this? What is this conversation you’re having? Why are you talking to this person?’” Robyn claimed. “I was being open with both of them, I was talking to both of them. If she wants to say that somehow I did something wrong there, that is fine. I don’t have a problem with that because I know what my intentions were.”
