Beth Dutton’s Biggest Yellowstone Secret May Come Back To Haunt Her & Rip In Dutton Ranch
Beth’s old ghost may actually be able to follow her in the Texas-set Dutton Ranch.
Shifting to become cattle farmers poses major hurdles for the couple. Aside from establishing themselves in the industry, they are going up against a much bigger ranch, 10 Petal, run by Annette Bening’s Beulah Jackson. Beth’s initial interaction with her sets up a fierce rivalry down the line. Beyond that, with an established antagonist, it also paves the way for some old skeletons in her closet to come back.
In an interview with TVLine, Reilly addressed the possibility of Jamie’s murder becoming a narrative factor in Dutton Ranch. The Beth actor didn’t reveal any spoilers, but she admitted that it’s certainly a possibility. Admittedly, the idea of the crime coming back to haunt the couple is terrifying, but Reilly interestingly added that it might actually be good for them. Read her full quote below:
“Maybe some old ghosts might come back to haunt them. But who could possibly know about it? You know, Rip is very good at hiding evidence.”
It’s their skeletons in their cupboard, and they might prove to be their weakness or their strength. Who knows?”
Marshals has already been able to incorporate these mysteries into its storytelling, so it shouldn’t be surprising that both will eventually play a part in Dutton Ranch. If anything, Jamie’s disappearance is more tied to Beth and Rip’s narrative, considering that they personally killed him. At this point, it’s safe to say that Dutton Ranch tackling this is no longer a matter of if, but when. As Beulah tries to familiarize herself with Beth and Rip, she may be the one to unearth this secret.
As popular as Marshals has been, Dutton Ranch is a better Yellowstone sequel than the CBS series. With that, it is better positioned to revisit some of the bigger lingering plotlines left by the flagship. No word yet on whether the show will return for a sophomore year, but given its record-breaking numbers for Paramount+, it’s safe to say that a renewal is imminent. Once that’s confirmed, Dutton Ranch can spend more time building towards a reckoning for Beth in relation to Jamie’s fate.
