Yellowstone Fans Shocked by Logan Marshall-Green’s Admission

Logan Marshall-Green hadn’t seen Yellowstone before signing on to play Pete Calvin in the show’s spinoff, Marshals.

While discussing the forthcoming second season of the contemporary crime drama, the 49-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview, published May 26, that he hadn’t watched Yellowstone before deciding whether he wanted to join the franchise.

“I got the offer, and I knew the shoot was in 10 days. I also had not seen Yellowstone,” he recalled. “So I quickly watched the pilot and asked some questions. I knew kind of the direction Marshals was going, and I decided to sign on and take the jump.”

Since then, Marshall-Green revealed that he still hasn’t seen the original Western drama, which concluded in December 2025 after five seasons.

“That’s intentional, because Cal has just so many questions,” he explained. “The river has to roll for him, as it has already has for many.”

“I also knew we were not shooting exactly a Yellowstone show, so I didn’t necessarily want a bar we were supposed to be getting over, storytelling-wise or aesthetic-wise,” he continued. “I just knew we needed to tell this story. It’s not about next season. It’s just about this scene or this sentence and this word, and making sure that we’re trying to tell the best story possible with the highest stakes.”

Since CBS officially renewed Marshals for season 2 just 12 days after the series premiered in March 2026, Marshall-Green went on to say that he could easily see himself “making this show for years to come.”

“I love employment!” he quipped. “I love steady income, and I love more than anything this crew and this cast.”

“Now — where is the story juiciest, now that we’re dealing with a subject matter like cancer? I don’t wanna sugarcoat it. I don’t want kid gloves on. I don’t want a safe approach,” he added of his character’s journey with a rare form of lung cancer. “I want Cal to go through it, because I think that is the duty to these men and women who come back from uniform.”

The Marshals season 1 finale can be streamed on Paramount+, and it’s slated to return for season 2 in the fall of 2026.
