‘Sister Wives’ Star Calls Out Kody Brown Over ‘Hurtful’ Words to Their Kids

Sister Wives star has opened up about Kody Brown‘s past polygamy comments, which she believes are “hurtful” to their children.

Meri Brown discussed this topic in a YouTube interview with the channel Notes to Self 444. The channel is helmed by a husband and wife, Melanie and Cory, ex-polygamists who hail from families that belong to the same religious group as the Browns.

Brown says that when Kody speaks negatively about his polygamist past, it hurts the children he shares with her, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown Woolley. She emphasized that it’s difficult for their kids to hear their father speak negatively about a life that shaped their family.

A YouTube viewer asked, “Does it hurt when you hear Kody say he wishes that he hadn’t done polygamy, and if he could do it over again, he wouldn’t? I feel like that would be hurtful to all his children?”

The Sister Wives star responded, “I think it’s got to be hurtful to his kids. I can’t imagine, as a kid, hearing your dad say ‘I regret doing that. I wish I wouldn’t have done that.’”

Brown addressed his feelings about polygamist on the TLC series, “Becoming a monogamist is sort of an easier life [than polygamy]. I’m going through this process, back and forth, with the pain of this experience.”

He continued, “‘Did I do the right thing? or ‘Did we do the right thing?’ Is polygamy better? Is monogamy better?”

“Was polygamy better, and we just screwed it up?” he asked. “Or is monogamy just part of my destiny?” Kody has lived monogamously with Robyn Brown for many years, but officially since Brown left their marriage in January 2023.

While TLC has not yet confirmed if Sister Wives will return for a 21st season, Christine and Kody’s daughter, Mykelti Brown Padron, confirmed in an interview for the Growing Up in Polygamy YouTube channel that the family has already filmed content for a 21st season.

Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The series airs on TLC.
